Micha Ashkenazi, the founder of Bible Oriented Tours, has been organizing and guiding pilgrimages, archaeological seminars and tours to the lands of the Bible for over four decades. He was also the administrator in charge of three major archaeological excavations in Israel – the dig in Caesarea by the Mediterranean Sea, where he helped discover the famous Pontius Pilate dedication stone; the dig in the Nabatean city of Avdat, on the ancient caravan route from Petra to Gaza; and the dig in Tiberias, by the Sea of Galilee.

Micha earned his PhD in Jewish-Christian studies from the School of Bible Theology in San Jacinto, California. He also studied biblical archaeology and the history of Christianity at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. As a government authorized tour guide, Micha won the “1992 Jerusalem Guide of the Year” award in recognition of his many years of service as chief guide and program planner for Israel Students Travel Association, the Israel Ministry of Tourism and the Israel Ministry of Defense.

Micha Ashkenazi is also responsible for developing unique tour programs for pilgrims. These programs have been praised by many well known Christian Bible teaching organizations such as Walk Thru the Bible from Atlanta, Winning With Encouragement from Charlotte, the Biblical Archaeology Society from Washington and the Biblical Archaeology Foundation from Texas, to mention only a few who use Micha’s services constantly.
